Through the immeasurable love and compassion of her Satguru, Amma Sri Karunamayi, Lily has been blessed to humbly serve yoga students from around the world by passing on the teachings of the Awakened Ones. As a devotee of Amma, Sri Sri Sri Vijayeswari Devi, for 10 years, Lily spends extensive time in retreat and pilgrimage every year with Amma in India, practicing deep meditation and yoga, and humbly offering her service.
For over 20 years Lily has helped thousands of yoga students deepen their practice, find purpose, live healthier and connect to the Divine, as the Founder and Teacher of the Blooming Lotus Yoga School in Bali. With an MA in Counseling Psychology, and her intensive immersion in the traditional ashrams of South India, Lily bridges the gap between the mystical and spiritual practices of the Sages of India, with a grounded, practical and scientific approach to body/mind dynamics.

Mantra Japam/Bhajan Kirtan with Pallavi Subhraveti
Pallavi and her family have been devotees of Amma and Sri Rudram for approximately ten years. Pallavi has been teaching Rudram for a couple of years and has prepared over 100 students for the 2019 Atirudram Maha Yagnam at SRIM, Atlanta, GA.
Upon Amma’s request, Pallavi recently coordinated the chanting of the Mrutyunjaya and the Shiva Panchakshari mantras to help mitigate the coronavirus pandemic. Amma has again requested Pallavi to lead us in this three-day special mantra japam (*) and bhajan kirtan with musical accompaniment (**) sessions.
Professionally, Pallavi is an engineer in a bioinformatics research organization in the Bay area.
(*) Japam is the meditative repetition of a mantra or a divine name. Through mantra meditation, we learn to take control of our thoughts and emotions and begin to steer into them into the present moment. Mantra meditation creates a safe way into a higher perspective of our own thinking where we can alleviate stress, anger, jealousy and other negative states and calm our nervous system and relax. Mantras have transformative power. They protect the mind by calling upon and awakening transcendental energy.
(**) In the Yoga Sutras, one of the ancient, foundational yogic texts, Patanjali says the eight-limbed path consists of hatha, karma, bhakti, tantra, jnana, guru, mantra, and raja yogas. Kirtan is a form of bhakti the yoga of devotion; jnana, the yoga of wisdom; and mantra, the yoga of sound. Kirtan offers the possibility for stillness of mind, without the struggle or striving to concentrate. The practice is also one way to focus the mind and for some, it has a powerful heart-opening effect as well.
